Project Description

Swarms of high-speed autonomous surface vehicles equipped with underwater listening devices form distributed acoustic sensor networks. Using radio communications to share data, onboard computers develop a collective intelligence and memory about the underwater acoustic environment. The fundamental challenge of doing all of this at a cost that is an order of magnitude less than the current market is addressed by creative selection and integration of commercial off-the-shelf parts.
