We create new metamaterials for controlling sound and vibration by saturating metallic foams with liquids and solids. Experimental, numerical, and analytical approaches are used to explore responses to sound and vibration caused by complex dynamic interactions between foams and saturating materials. Our work produces a design space of metamaterials with tunable properties to achieve design objectives.
